Hay Ride

Last weekend we headed up to Elliott Farms outside of Macon to take Benjamin on his first hay ride. It was Mike's first hay ride, too! It was a perfect fall afternoon - sunny and a little bit cool.

Showing slightly more interest in these cows than the ones at the fair a few weeks ago.

Starting out on the hay wagon.

Not so sure about the tractor motor...

...but no one else seemed upset, so he quieted down (but still looked skiddish). It was a nice, short ride through a few patches of vegetation, and it wasn't crowded at all. Benjamin didn't seem to mind it, and Mike and I had a great time!

What I often see when I look down the hall after I realize Benjamin isn't in the living room anymore.

Daddy invading Fort Benjamin. It was a happy invasion.

Being a wiggle worm in the high chair. He constantly tries to turn around in his seat and chews on the straps.

Adventures with a sippy cup. We think he's teething again this week, and yesterday he wouldn't drink anything from a bottle...so I tried a different sippy cup (the last one was kind of a flop). He likes being able to see the liquid in the cup, and he actually drank a bit.

Taking a few sips before swinging the cup back and forth and banging it on the floor. Baby steps, small victories...I'm just happy he finally ate some formula.

I was sooo excited last week when Benjamin slept through the night for FOUR NIGHTS IN A ROW. It was awesome. And then he started getting up twice a night. For the last three nights. He won't go to sleep for an hour or two after his bedtime, and then after a horrible night's sleep, he gets up early. First I thought it was gas, then we thought that he just didn't like the temperature change (it's been unusually cold the last few days), but then he started showing signs of teething. He was quite miserable yesterday and spent a lot of time wanting to be cuddled. That's when we know he's really under the weather. I've tried all the old tricks - teething tablets, Orajel, teething rings, even Tylenol - but none of them seem to be doing a thing. I think he may be feeling a tad better today because both of his naps have been pretty long. Oh, and one more way I know he's not feeling well...he nearly falls asleep in his car seat. That RARELY happens.

Love the pictures! Benjamin looks sooo long when he is wearing his sleeper. The hayride pictures reminded me and Dad of when we took you girls on them. We have awesome memories and I am so glad to see that you are giving Benjamin great memories too. What a wonderful little family you guys have! Enjoy it! I hope Benjamin is feeling better soon and don't forget the old whiskey on your gums trick! Love and hugs, Mom (Nana)

Evening hayrides at the Haunted Park in E-Town. Daytime hayrides at Funk's Farm. Carving pumpkins. Trick or treating. Memories are made of this. It's nice to know Benjamin is giving you these pleasant experiences just as you did to us! Love, Dad
