It's so cute...Benjamin has started opening his mouth wide when he sees the spoon with his cereal in front of him, and sometimes when he sees his bottle. We're giving him cereal twice a day because he likes it so much (and keeps opening his mouth when we eat at the table). He also likes to shove his fingers in his mouth and sometimes blows raspberries while he's eating, so it's pretty messy.
Really, I promise, he was having a good time... I was swinging him around, and he got freaked out for a second, which was just when Mike snapped the picture.
See? Happy as a clam.
He pulled an Edward Scissorhands on himself a few days ago - I went to get him from his crib in the morning, and his left cheek was butchered. It was so embarrassing going to the grocery store that day. We clip his nails the best we can, and he sleeps with a swaddle wrap, but those little hands just can't be held back.
Farmer Ben. He was lying on our bed and staring up at the ceiling fan.Well, Mike and I are a little tired lately. We had been getting Benjamin on a nap and nighttime schedule for the past week or so, and things were going well. Then two days ago he got really fussy (seemed maybe like teething, but it comes and goes) and got up five times during the night. Ugh. Yesterday he only napped 30-45 minutes at a time. I figured he would sleep like a rock last night - he went to sleep with no problem, but then got up three times. But this morning he napped for two whole hours at a time (can't remember the last time that happened) and his afternoon nap just passed the hour mark. Maybe he'll be back to normal tonight... In any case, I just got the book The Baby Whisperer today and can't wait to dive in.
And in case anyone's wondering, it's bloody HOT in Georgia. Only four or five more months of summer left...

Hi Sarah! Kids all go through these weird phases. I always try so hard to figure out what causes the changes but usually I have no clue except when 6 teeth came in at once after a month of very little sleep and lots of crying (for both of us!) Just try to remember that it's probably nothing you can change and then you might be able to handle it even better than you already are!
Sarah, Just remember that although it breaks your heart when Ben is so upset, you are doing all you can to make him comfortable and happy. You and Mike are super caring,loving parents. It is obvious by looking at those pictures, that nobody could be happier. Take care, love you, Mom
Hi,Sarah! Benjamins expressions are just adorable. He is changing day by day and isn't any more sure of what's going on than you and Mike are! It's obvious the three of you are happy and well adjusted,(or reasonably so!) Settle in and enjoy his daily and hourly changes.
