Fifteen Months Old

Can you believe it??  Madeline is 15 months old today!  This is how I find her when she's done not taking her nap.  I'm afraid she will soon go down to one nap a day.  But she has been sleeping through the night a lot (knock knock knock on wood).

When she wakes up and I take her out of the crib, she points to objects around her room that she wants to touch.  These pictures are part of the usual lineup.  She likes to scratch the canvas with her fingernails (cringe).

Scavenging her brother's lunch leftovers.  She did figure out that the fork was upside down.

She's eating a lot of table food now.  She used to only try to eat the rinds of clementines but this week discovered that the actual clementine slices are tastier.  And easier to swallow.

There is less and less tummy time these days.  She climbs on everything.  She also holds onto furniture and stands while slowly taking sideway steps.  She still only combat crawls and shows very little interest in getting around any other way.

This was from earlier this month, before I tried to trim her bangs and she grabbed the scissors from me.

Our wine rack, one of the many objects she uses to help her stand up.  Maybe she's smiling because she's proud of herself for standing.  Maybe she's wondering where the wine bottles are hiding.

We had her 15-month checkup with the pediatrician today and it went fine (except for the screaming because she still hates having her measurements taken).  Her height, weight, and head circumference are all looking good.

Some highlights from this month... Maddy has been slowly adding words to her vocabulary.  She says "day-day" for "baby"; "nay-nay" for "banana"; "muh-muh" for "yummy"; and "kee-kee" for things she likes, but we don't know if she's trying to say an actual word.  She has tons of teeth now.  She has been able to stand up since last month but just figured out how to get back down by herself.  This has made my life much easier, and there is much less frantic yelling from her when she gets stuck somewhere.  Since she had still been throwing up several times a week, her GI doctor has put her on reflux medication to see if reflux might be the problem.  She's been taking the medicine for about a week and hasn't thrown up yet.  I'm hoping this is the official diagnosis and treatment we've been looking for, although Maddy pitches a huge fit every time I make her take the medicine.  She is also very unhappy any time she goes to the doctor now, which should make the next month's worth of appointments lots of fun.  We go back to Cincinnati next week, then a week later go to Akron to see a different dwarfism specialist.  I'm curious to see what they all will have to say about Maddy not being able to sit up on her own yet.
