Flights

The day we left Warner Robins, a friend drove us and our cat and a bazillion pieces of luggage to the Atlanta airport. The first leg of the flight was to Baltimore, and it was Ben's first time on a plane.

My folks drove 90 minutes to meet us at the airport to spend a couple of hours with us before the flight to Germany. But the flight got delayed until the next day, so they spent the afternoon and evening with us.

Nana kept Ben occupied while we got the details straightened out and waited for our hotel shuttle.

Dinner at the hotel. Nana got a few more goofball lessons in while she had the chance.

Like I said - goofballs. Those are Nana's glasses.

Ben trying to crawl into the cat carrier in the hotel room.

The next afternoon we went back to the airport to wait for the big flight. It was a military contract flight and there was a lot of time to kill between when we had to check our bags and when we actually boarded. So Ben ran and ran and ran through the terminals.

Finally on the plane. We were prepared with many pacifiers and lollipops to help with the pressure changes.

The staff was really helpful on the military flight, unlike the flight from Atlanta. We got to board early to install Ben's carseat and get settled. The flight was packed. We were in the middle section that has five seats across, and poor Mike got smashed in the middle seat. Ben did pretty well and didn't have any major meltdowns, just a couple of minor ones. Thanks goodness for portable DVD players and dum-dums.
