Just an example of Ben's babbling. This was after several minutes of babbling, when I got the nerve to run for the camera. He was on a roll that time. I am a little concerned about him not using any words yet. If "bwah" was a word, we'd be set. But he doesn't even use "bwah" for any specific thing or person, he just babbles with it. A nurse from the base advised me to give it a couple of months, and if he doesn't make any progress we can talk to a professional. In the meantime, she told me to continue pointing things out by name. She also said it might ease our frustration to teach him some sign language. I'm going to try to teach him some basic signs and see if he catches on. I resisted signing for a long time for fear that it would delay his speech, but at this point I think it could only help him get closer to speaking.
I don't think you should have concern. Seems to me Benjamin is right on schedule. Children do things on their own arbitrary schedule. They all even out over time. Love, Dad
Sarah, did you forget your spanish? It's clear to me that he's saying "Alma" at the end of the video...Alma: soul, spirit, heart. That little boy has a lot of soul and spirit! He's a cutie! ~yvette
Katie is right, it did take her awhile to start talking--it still does. No reason to worry--benjamin will be talking before you know it, and then there will be days when you wish he would stop talking. Lots of love, Mom
