Katie's Graduation

Last weekend we went to Jacksonville for Katie's graduation from law school. My folks had already gotten there after visiting us in Georgia. Nana thought Ben might enjoy using sidewalk chalk. He at least enjoyed sitting on it.

Nana & Katie on the way to commencement. It was a gorgeous day, but I was still glad it was inside and air-conditioned. Mike stayed home with Ben, because we faced it: there was NO WAY he could sit through it. Without sedation, anyway (and that has been suggested by an alarming number of people).

Brian and the happy graduate after the ceremony. What a huge accomplishment!

Before the graduation party, Nana blew bubbles to entertain Ben. The last time he encountered bubbles he was not a fan, but Nana won him over.

Studying the bubble contraption. In case you think he looks wise beyond his years here, I must say that a few moments later he tried to drink the bubbles.

The next morning we all went to the beach. It was perfect weather, and I got a bunch of pics that I'll post separately. He had such a blast that he wore himself out. After we got cleaned up from the beach we hit the road. It was around Ben's usual naptime, and though he barely slept at all on the trip down, this is what happened shortly after getting back in the car:

Out like a light. For two hours. It was bliss.
