It's official: Mike found out this week that he was accepted for a transfer to an Air Force band in Germany! We move in August 2009, and we will be there for three years. My birthday presents from him were a travel guide and language learning software. It will be very hard to be away from family in the states, but this is an amazing opportunity. And it will force my parents to travel to Europe again! Mike has been to Germany a couple of times for work and loved it. I, on the other hand, have never been out of the country. Okay, so I've been to Canada. But I've been wanting to go to Europe for a long time, and hopefully we'll be able to do a bit of traveling while we're there. We have been in Georgia for over seven years, and we've been wanting a change...we certainly got it!

I am so, so happy for you guys!!
This past year has been tough for you with all Mike was going through (and you were sharing in right along side)...to get the news that all is well, and then an all expenses paid trip to Germany!! What a treat and awesome opportunity!!
Although I'm sad that we won't be going to the same new duty station, it will be great to share in your new experiences via facebook/blogger/email.
Now let's get these houses ready to sell!!

Great opportunity, Sarah & Mike! Looking forward to visiting you there! My mother's family (Boehm) is from the Wurtenburg region around Stuttgart. Of the three villages that we have identified, Neunheim, Neuler and Oberalfinger, I can only find Neuler as still existing! In 2006/7 it had a population of around 3000! Love, Dad
I'm soooo excited for you guys. I'm just sad that I made an awesome new friend and now I have to give you away. You just better believe that I'm coming to visit you!
Huh, running away?
Congratulations! I hope you'll enjoy your time in the Neiderhiser homeland!
I'm still crying--I know I have to accept it, but, I don't have to like it. Guess the pressure will be on Kate and Brian to give me a grandbaby who lives in the same country that Nana lives in. (kinda just kidding) Sarah and Mike, I know it is a wonderful opportunity for you, but, as usual, I will miss you daily. Love, Mom
